Travel Soccer is a fun, competitive, youth soccer program, run under the auspices of the Berkshire County Youth Soccer League and the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association. There are teams for boys and girls, from Grades 3 through 12, depending on participation rates. We play with towns, from all over Berkshire County, and we welcome players from other towns, who do not have enough players in their age group, to field a full team.

We provide a mix of volunteer parent coaches, and experienced certified trainers.

Grades 3/4 (formerly U-10)

At this age, the league focuses purely on fun and learning the game. No standings are kept, and every effort is made to evenly gauge teams' abilities and to match them as evenly as possible. It is not recommended for 2nd-Graders to play in travel soccer, but instead take part in our Saturday morning Mighty Kickers program. Grade 2 players may participate, but only after a coach's evaluation and with a signed waiver; keeping in mind the player's physical and mental safety, plus the ability to benefit from the training and to not detract from the experience of older players.

For information about 2nd-Graders and Travel Soccer, please read this FAQ on "Playing Up".
Playing Up and 2nd-Graders

Grades 5/6 (formerly U-12)

This is the age at which more competitive formats are introduced, and standings are kept; culminating in a cup tournament, for the Spring seasons. The league still stresses fun and learning, over competition. However, there are two divisions that cater to differing levels of skill. Teams may only compete in one division or the other, not both.

  • Berkshire Cup (a.k.a. "The B-CUP") - While still competitive, this is a more recreational league, for players of all skill levels. Each Spring, Berkshire teams compete for the top "seeds" in a tournament, which takes place, at the end of the season, to determine who wins the BCUP for that year.
  • Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (a.k.a. - "MTOC") - This is a state-wide competition. In the Fall, only county standings are kept. However, during the Spring season, Berkshire MTOC teams compete for the top "seeds" in a Berkshire tournament, held at the end of the season. The top-two teams of the tournament, both boys and girls, move on to compete for the state title, at the end of June, in Leominster, Massachusetts.

Grades 7/8 (formerly U-14)

We always open registration for this age group, however ...

In the Fall, it's hard to predict when we can field enough players to have enough for even one co-ed team.  As the Lenox high school and middle school share a building, the state allows middle-school students, as young as grade 7, to participate in Junior Varsity sports. This means we never know if we'll have a team, until after the JV tryouts.

In the Spring, when we are not competing with HS soccer for players, we often field separate boys and girls teams, or at least a co-ed team, to take part in either the BCUP or MTOC tournaments.

If we do not have enough players to field a team, you will be fully refunded and we can help you find alternatives, with neighboring clubs.
